Tour Structure:
All Tour members are awarded points and positioning is based upon a maximum of five (5) tour finishes of the eight (8) events on the Tour schedule. The players' overall Tour finish is based upon their best five (5) finishes. "Player of the Year" awards are presented to the top finishers in the Open and Senior Divisions.
All events are "flighted" based upon the size of the field. For events where there are at least 24 or more players in the Open division there will be a Championship flight of 24 to 30 players (and ties), then there will be additional flights of 10-14 players. If there are 30 or less players, Championship will be the only flight. In 2012, we will be using the points system established in 2011,that provides a more equitable distribution of points through the entire list of players in each event. The Quad City Amateur at Emeis Golf Course will have more points available than a regular event and the Major Tour Championship will have more points available than the Quad City Amateur event.
Statistically, after the first seven (7) tournaments, the top 32 players & ties in the Open and the top 16 & ties in the Senior Division earn a chance to play in the Tour Championship. Additionally, after the Tour Championship, the top ten (10) Open Division finishers and the top three (3) Senior finishers in Illinois and Iowa are awarded spots on the season-ending Hasley Cup teams. The Open Division captains from each state have 2 additional picks and the Senior captains will have one (1) additional pick to complete the total of 12 Open and 4 Senior players from each state. A Ryder Cup style of play is used and this event is the premier event that caps off the season.
