First
Tee Tour to Highland
By Craig DeVrieze, Quad-City Times

The
First Tee of the Quad-Cities Tour points race will take a new turn
after the Highland Springs Amateur this weekend at the Rock Island
golf course.
Jonas
DeWitte leads in the chase for a John Deere Classic exemption that
will be awarded to the year-end points list leader. But second-place
Brian Soucinek and fourth-place Mike Jump both can make up significant
ground because of a wrinkle in the points-series rules.
Only
a players top five finishes count in the standings. DeWitte
already has played in five events. Soucinek and Jump have played
in four.
All
three will be battling a 70-plus player field that includes most
of the tours top players, including defending Highland Springs
champion and St. Ambrose University star Joe Demory.
